Nexans secures a 3-year FTTH supply contract for Belgian mobile telecommunications company Proximus
Apr 21, 2022
Nexans Telecom Systems has signed with Cebeo, member of the Sonepar group, a 3-year frame contract for Proximus, a major Belgian mobile telecommunications company. By supplying our facade solution Nexans helps speed up the roll-out of the client’s Fibre To The Home (FTTH) network infrastructure.
FTTH roll-out
The continuous demand for higher bandwidth is driving up the deployment of fibre-based FTTH architectures in many towns and cities in Belgium. People and businesses want a reliable, fast and secure network connection. Proximus has made its ambition to cover at least 70% of homes and businesses in the country using fibre-optics in the next 6 years. That figure represents more than 4 million locations. To ensure the target is met a rapid fibre roll-out using the facade solution is chosen.
Nexans facade solution
Nexans has a cost-effective and reliable façade solution for FTTH applications. Installation is done quickly as installing the solution against a building's outer wall removes the need for costly underground civil works. Nexans' facade solution is comprised of a fibre-optic distribution cable and a WALLDROP box which connects the distribution cable with the drop cable at the subscriber's end.
